PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 20 October 2026
In short: Simple Racer has no ads, no tracking and no analytics. We keep only what the game needs to work - your account, your best lap times and the settings in your own browser - and we never sell or share it.
WHO WE ARE
Simple Racer (simpleracer.io) is a browser racing game made by an independent developer from Serbia. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].
PLAYING AS A GUEST
You can play without an account. A guest only gives a nickname; it is kept in the server's memory while you are connected and is gone when you leave. Nothing a guest does is saved.
YOUR ACCOUNT
If you register, we store:
- Your name and your race number (0-99) - shown to other players.
- Your password - only as a scrypt hash; we can't read it.
- Your country - worked out once from your IP address when you sign up, shown as your flag.
- Login sessions - a key that keeps you logged in (we store only its hash). A session not used for 90 days is deleted.
- Time trial laps - your best lap per circuit: its time, sectors, the date, and the recording of the keys you pressed during it. The recording lets our server drive the lap again to check it is real (no cheating), and your times appear in the world records. We also keep a short log of every lap checked (time claimed, accepted or not), to find problems with the checker.
ROOMS, RACES AND CHAT
- Rooms and chat live only in the server's memory while the room exists. Chat messages are passed on to the players in the room and are not stored.
- Races connect your browser directly to the room's host (WebRTC), like other browser games. For this, your browser and the host's exchange network addresses, so the host and the other players can see your IP address. If a direct connection is not possible, the race goes through our server instead.
- The rooms list shows how far away each room's host is. For that, your approximate location is worked out from your IP address (country and a rough place, see below); only the distance and the flag are shown to others.
YOUR IP ADDRESS
Like every website, our server sees your IP address. We use it only for the country flag, the distance between players, and limits against abuse (for example how many accounts can be made in an hour). We don't store it in our database. To find the country and rough location of an address, the server asks ipwho.is or ipapi.co.
IN YOUR BROWSER
The game keeps your settings, your nickname, your login (so you stay logged in) and downloaded circuit pictures in your browser's own storage. We use no cookies, no ads and no analytics or tracking scripts. You can delete all of it by clearing this site's data in your browser.
WHO ELSE IS INVOLVED
- DigitalOcean - our server, in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Cloudflare - delivers the site and protects it; it sees the requests your browser makes to it.
- Google and Cloudflare STUN servers - help two browsers find a direct connection for races.
- ipwho.is / ipapi.co - country and rough location of an IP address (above).
We don't sell or give your data to anyone else.
YOUR RIGHTS
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time - write to [email protected] from the name of your account. When an account is deleted, its laps and records go with it.
CHILDREN
Simple Racer is for everyone, but accounts are meant for players aged 13 or older. If you are younger, play as a guest or ask a parent first.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date.
